I made a very special guest appearance on the Bruha Baddies Podcast a couple weeks ago. This episode left me feeling so buzzy, excited, and fulfilled.
I walked away reinvigorated - like this is why I do this! I talked to Nicole and Jean @ Bruha Baddies about what I do, why I do it, and why it's so important to me as a Filipina-American. Credit: Aditya Saxena Are you born a psychic or can you develop it? I get this question often. It is one I pondered myself when I was first introduced to a course on intuition development. How do you define intuition? Here are my thoughts on intuition development: intuition is the secular term for psychism (I have a whole lot to say on that but we will save it for another post).
Just like witches got a bad wrap from colonizers ages ago, so have psychics. I pose the question: what does this actually tell us? JK You'll have to stay tuned for that blog post too. In this post, I want to address whether your psychic senses are natural born or developed. The answer is: both! Everyone has psychic abilities. They are as innate in us as any of our other senses. However, like a neglected muscle, our psychic abilities will weaken over time without exercise. It takes consistent practice to maintain our psychic abilities. If you asked me about this at the start of my spiritual journey, I would have told you that I never had any experiences. I would be a perfect example that you absolutely can develop this. However, it all comes back to consciousness. The more I learned, the more I understood of all the seemingly insignificant moments that were truly spiritually guided. Now YOU tell me, what do you think being psychic is all about? Every color of the spectrum holds a different frequency and vibration. They correspond to different energy centers. The different shades within each color can tell us whether the energy is under expressed, balanced, or over expressed. Colors tell us so much!
This guided meditation is an activation of your connection to the different colors of the rainbow as a language and barometer for energy. Note the different thoughts and sensations you experience with each color within the meditation. Journal your experience post-meditation. So much ignorance in the comment. Plain and simple, it is stereotyping. A fear mechanism of the ignorant. Tarot, and mysticism in general, is absolutely practical! It isn't all spellwork and magic. While the media have often connected psychics with fortune telling, that is only an aspect of energy work. I would even say it is a minor aspect of energy work. My main issue with fortune-telling and predictability is that we all have free will and what you do with the information that comes out of a reading could change the course of events. I want to normalize divination practices. We are all psychic! Psychic abilities are innate in all of us. Being psychic is being sensitive or aware of energy. Energy communicates with us through our clair senses: clairvoyance (clear knowning), clairaudience (clear hearing), clairsentience (clear feeling), clairgustance (clear taste), and clairalience (clear smelling). People think this happens like it does in the movies with fireworks and body twitching of some sort but our intuition acts in subtle ways. Blink and you will miss it. Doubt it and it will disappear. Trusting in yourself is the only way to strengthen it. Personally, my practice leans towards the value of spiritual guidance and its accessibility for all. When I meet with clients, I often share practices (from meditations to journaling) they can do on their own to strengthen their intuition. My purpose is to help people access their intuition and strengthen their connection with Spirit. I haven't done my job if either of us leaves that session with any sense of dependence on the other. You are a sovereign being and life is happening in perfect timing!  Psychic faculties are a soul ability. We are all souls first and a physical body last. To answer this question, yes! We are all born with psychic abilities. I've said this many times and will happily say it 1000x more: our psychic abilities are muscles that require exercise.
What about people that are more in-tune with their psychic abilities? We are all on a different journey. The past lives and the purpose of that individual, as well as what that individual has planned out for themselves to learn the lessons they set out for themselves, are specific to them. A person may enter a lifetime with strong psychic faculties and part of their purpose is to honor and share those gifts. Another person may be born into a life with weaker psychic faculties and part of their purpose is to recognize and embody the divinity within them. Whatever your paradigm is, a mentor/guide can help you explore that in a safe space. The Universe does not give you anything that you cannot handle. Remember that, repeat it, integrate it. When you think you are not enough, remember that you are and that you've been gifted this experience to demonstrate for yourself how powerful you truly are.
