 Gatekeeping. The word makes me tense up. I don’t like it. I don’t think that anything that empower us should be proprietary, secret, or hidden. I’ve had to really dive into my own relationship with gatekeeping to understand my own position on it.
First of all, you don’t need someone to tell you that you’re a force. You are a force. You were always a force. If you were wondering, it seems you forgot that 100% fact about yourself. Second, well what about people charging for their offerings? When you enter a relationship with a practitioner, you are transacting for their energy. You are contracting with their ability to hold space for you. You aren’t buying a ting from them. Keep an eye out for a post about more on this later because even the people selling tings, you are buying way more than the ting! Third, and maybe last thought for now, I struggle with what I share for free and what I ask people to invest in. It is this self-discovery of what I want to inspire in others and the mechanics of how I ask for an investment in the offering. I have a lot to say and I know there are people out there that need to hear it. I just don’t have a full yes on whether it is something I offer in exchange of an investment or something I offer as community support. Also, how do I offer it? Ya girl doesn’t want to manage a patreon page and I feel less and less inclined to show up on Facebook. Sike! I have a fourth and (I promise) final thought. There are so many people in the world offering the same thing. Often times we gatekeep because of scarcity mindset. Where I feel people miss the bigger picture is that what sets you apart is you and the unique flavor of your energy. Scarcity is what keeps us from letting our fullest expression free and it’s what perpetuates the curse of comparison. Scarcity tells us that we need to be like that person over there (where, RIGHT THERE! ) in order to be successful. They’re wrong. You didn’t come into this existence to be anyone but yourself. You came into this existence to be yourself. The end. Trust me. I spent 34 years trying to figure out who I am which included imitating the people I thought were successful...which makes you really question and redefine what success is for yourself!
